Vendicari Nature Reserve

Updated: May 9

In the Vendicari Nature Reserve, one can not only go hiking and birdwatching, but also enjoy a magnificent swim in the clear waters of the ionian sea. Even in march when the sicilian sun is quite hot!

-What does the service include?

There is a transfer from Noto or a place to be agreed upon - with a comfortable 9-seater minibus authorised to transport passengers - to the Vendicari Nature Reserve.

There are various trekking options within the reserve.

From the main entrance you can easily reach the Tonnara beach and the Torre Sveva, do some birdwatching to observe various species of birds, including: The Pink Flamingo and the Shelduck, symbol of the reserve itself.

You can visit the Byzantine Citadel of the Maccari and its Necropolis, you can reach the famous Calamosche beach. Or stroll along the beach of Eloro and admire the remains of the Greek city.

The Vendicari Nature Reserve was created to protect and preserve a wet coastal environment of great value. The beaches, the lagoons or marshes so called depending on the season, the Byzantine remains and the past and recent testimonies, ranging from the Greek period to the 20th century, make this place a protected area that absolutely must be visited.

At the end of the visit inside the reserve, you will be able to return to the agreed place in a comfortable minibus. Along the way, depending on your choice, it will be possible to visit the Roman mosaics of the splendid VillaTellaro.

The whole year is suitable for visiting the Vendicari reserve, but the best seasons to appreciate it at its best are spring and autumn.
